Super Alpine Racer is a reboot of the Alpine Racer series and the fourth arcade game in the series. Just like the original titles it is played on a large cabinet where the player stands on a set of ski-like foot stands that are moved with horizontal motions to steer and taking corners while holding onto two bars for stability. There is also an edging element when the pressure applied to the inside and outside edges of the foot stands are measured, as an additional means to control speed. Edging is affected by the surface. This game can be linked up to three additional cabinets for competitive races between four players. There are different environments based on real locations such as Mount Kilimanjaro, Everest and the Matterhorn. There are different characters to choose from with statistics based on speed, acceleration and traction. The multiple game modes have been replaced with a single one where the player competes in an eight-player race. While going down gates highlighted in colours can be taken to extend time and tricks can be performed while in the air for additional points. Multiple gates in succession for gate streaks. A novelty is a fan system above the buttons below the screen that blows wind into the player's face. By winning first place an additional game is earned.
